What a great place. We have been here twice now. Once for brunch and once for lunch. The food they serve has always been excellently prepared, servers are very friendly and take care of everything you need and prices are pretty decent. A word about the food - I'm a bit old fashioned in my tastes, I like simple - my fiancé on the other hand loves a mix of flavors with all kinds of different things going. This is HER type of place. It's very very good, but there a LOT of different flavors going on. My suggestion - try the chicharron. You won't be disappointed.

There are two types of reviews I look forward to - the "I'm going to kill this restaurant once I get back on yelp because this place sucked" kind of review (I'm not good at naming things), and the "5-star oh my lord this was terrific" review. This is the latter. Castile is a nice restaurant situated in the Hotel Zamora on St. Pete Beach, maybe 1/4 mile north from the Don Cesar. It is a boutique hotel with a rooftop bar and this restaurant. Our plan was to watch the sunset from their rooftop bar, but it was closed at this hour on Sunday (8:15). No matter, we sat on the patio overlooking the pool area and enjoyed the outdoors. Granted, it was a hot and humid Florida summer evening, but at least that means my girlfriend gets to enjoy me sweating the whole time, and we all know how appetizing that can be. Okay, moving on...It is a very nice restaurant from the ambiance perspective. Can be romantic, minus the sweat factor, and would be good for a group as well. On the fancier side, but this is Florida at the beach, so fancy equals khaki shorts instead of cargo shorts and only your Sunday best sandals, too. If there was anything bad, besides my girlfriend having to deal with my sweat, and her entree not being as tasty as mine, it would be our service. I can't take off a star for it because the food for me was that good, but it probably deserves 1/2 to a full star less. We were sat, and waited 5-10 minutes to be greeted. Once greeted and told about the menu, the server offered to give us a few minutes, but instead gave us 10+. We ordered from the restaurant week menu and my girlfriend ordered a glass of wine with dinner. Appetizers came out 5-10 minutes later, but still no wine at that point. Finally, we were halfway through our meal when the server asked us if we were brought any bread. All in all, he seemed incredibly disinterested in our table. He was knowledgeable about the menu, but not attentive. Onto the food. We both loved the tuna poke appetizer. It was raw, above sushi-grade tuna served mixed with some minced pickled veggies, like a salsa. A bit spicy, but far from overwhelming. You could have served this in a bowl and i would have eaten it. In fact, you could have served this in a doggie bowl, and I would have gotten down on all fours and devoured it face first. Probably a good thing it was served on the table on a plate. My next course was the roast chicken, which was served over a vegetable ratatouille and a green peppercorn jus. Mouthwatering is the only way to describe it. That, and too small. Seriously, next time, bring me the entire chicken drowning in that sauce. Better yet, drown me in that sauce. Gluttony aside, it was a fine size portion and filling, especially with the appetizer and too-late bread I was using to soak up the extra sauce. Final course was dessert. Chocolate lava cake. Admittedly, not the best chocolate lava cake I have ever had, but it was still very good and frankly, nothing was going to bring this meal down, and certainly not molten chocolate goodness.

Came here for a 7:30pm reservation on a Friday night. we wanted to do outdoor patio seating but due to rain we had to be inside. The downside: -SO LOUD. could hardly hear our party -drink wasn't great so had to send it back for another -The roof isn't open for patio service at all (downside because they advertise as having a "rooftop bar") -Did I mention SO LOUD? The good: -mahi mahi special was ver ygood, portion was a perfect size. -server was EXCELLENT. Funny, attentive, and great. Overall, I have experienced better @ other local places and will not come back due to the size and "Cheescake Factory" feel.

Love this place, came for cocktails and tapas, it's 4.30pm and we've been here many many times before and love it. But I have to tell u the service sucked today. Borderline just flat out rude. The woman who didn't greet us who was working at the cash register basically told us we couldn't go out on the patio. She didn't really have a reason why not and other patrons were already out there. The bartender quickly came to our rescue and greeted us pleasantly and said you can sit where u like, it's a free country. Then we ordered our craft cocktails which are absolutely delicious, but we also ordered a large bottle of sparkling water and were offered no help to get outside. I hate spilling my cocktail that's in a small glass and filled to the brim, for obvious reasons and not because I am an alcoholic! But it's not easy to carry a purse, cocktail and bottle of water without spilling. So now I wanna order tapas but not sure if we have any table service or even if we can order food.

First off they were out of scallops and mashed potatoes they found potatoes hard and tasteless then I chose the tenderloin could hardly cut it it was like leather ? My husband ordered the tenderloin it was cold the manager came over to give a whole 15% off of 1 meal ? Unbelievable we won't ever come back it was really bad !!

I wish the rooftop deck was open and that they served their lunch menu vs their kinda boring breakfast/brunch menu and that the hostess wasn't so gruff but overall it's a cool restaurant and our server was sweet. It was annoying to have to wait for an outside table since we were one of 4 others in the entire restaurant. We had the beignets and the parfait and the burata. All were pretty good. Would prefer to come back to have their lunch menu.

Tried this place after seeing a write up in Tampa Metro. It is in Hotel Zamora close to the Don CeSar. Free valet. The lounge area was very nice and modern looking and the restaurant it self was open an airy, very upbeat with live Spanish influenced music on a Friday night. It was dark by the time we got there but there is a view of the water although it is not on the beach side of the street. They have a nice drink menu with a lot drinks made with Acai berry liquor, lychees, etc.. The wine list is not bad either. Service was prompt and friendly. Our server seemed knowledgable and was very helpful as well. The food is damn good. We tried the lobster fires. They suck the meat out of lobster legs and marinate them in bouillabaisse for six hours, lightly bread them and fry them up. Very yummy indeed. I really like their salads, they were very tasty. The entrees again were great. I had grouper cheeks, basically several cheeks from some groupers, pan seared served atop a delicious pickled salad. Apparently cheeks are the best part of the fish as per Andrew Zimmerman and Anthony Bourdain and they certainly were juicy sweet and tender. Cath of the night was black grouper, again cooked nicely and the Divers Sea Scallops were perfect. Good size, tender, sweet, and delicious. They do serve more than fish, there were some beef and chicken and at least one vegetarian choices as well, all looked good by the descriptions. Rooftop bar was still under construction, can't wait for that to open, looks like it is going to be a hot spot on that part of the beach. Will definitely come back here.

Absolutely amazing place to have dinner! The service is the best I've had in a very long time, the food was incredibly flavorful and the presentation was perfect. Went on a Tuesday night and found out we were there for .01 cent bottle of wine night...you read that correctly. I had just proposed to my girlfriend and it was also her birthday...before we knew it the manager came over with two glasses of complimentary champagne..which was refilled later as well! We had the best time and can't wait to come back again. You will not be sorry if you eat here. It's obvious that everyone from the bar staff, wait staff, chef and management care about making your experience one you won't forget. Thank you for an amazing night!!

Absolutely delicious! My fiancé and I dined here several times. The flavors are so unique, well balanced but completely original. If you like tasty food, you must try Castile. We found ourselves loving their tomatoes and requesting a side order all by itself. They are seasoned to perfection and were perfectly soft, crisp and fresh. The tomatoes come with many different menu items, if you can't decide between two dishes, order the one with there tomatoes. (This comes from a person who isn't normally a tomato lover, I eat them with and in food, but never by themselves.) The atmosphere is modern and upbeat. Outdoor seating overlooks water with dolphins and manatees!!! Indoors is also nice, refreshing and cool if looking to escape the sun. No matter where you sit you will be serenaded with the sounds and music of Spain! The signature cocktails had almost too much flavor. Delicious but too large to enjoy all by yourself. You will order one and love it. But after the first we switched to wine and beer. So much flavor in the signature cocktails... Good, but too intense and sweet for more than one at a single sitting. No complaint, simply a personal opinion. Great however for sharing, order different drinks and pass them around for everyone to taste! Service was exceptional! And very friendly staff. We will be back. :)

I visited Castile Restaurant last night for the first time and really enjoyed my experience. Castile has a focus on Spanish architecture and cuisine and the tapas are excellent! The rooftop bar looks interesting, but is currently under construction and not open just yet. My first impression of Hotel Zamora where Castile is located was Latin music playing in the valet lobby leading to the elevator which was a nice touch. I started off with some cocktails of which my favorite was Acai Caipirinha ($12): Leblon Cachaca, Cedilia Acai Liquor, fresh lime, mix berries, simple syrup, mix fresh berries . Not over-priced for an imported favorite drink - the berries were delicious in this drink. The Hot Mama ($11) was a runner-up with Partida Blanco Tequila, fresh limes, Agave Nectar, cucumber, jalapeno and cilantro served in a martini glass. Off the tapas menu I LOVE the Smoked Crispy Chicharrons ($12) which are Castile Cured and Smoked with Tamarind Gastrique and Jicama Habanero Pina Slaw. The portions of the tapas are big enough to share (as they should be) and the chicharrons have a natural flavor that is great with either the sides or just straight up in your mouth. Another top tapa is the Maine Lobster Ajillo ($11) which comes with Spanish Smoked Paprika, Garlic, Chablis, Sweet Onions, Serrano Peppers, and Grilled Focaccia. This dish has such a great taste, I could have it for days and not get sick of it. I highly recommend it. Another tapa I recommend that I don't see listed on the full-menu is their cheese and fruit plate. The dish as a whole would be great for a night filled with wine and cocktails. For dinner I had the soup of the day which was a red-roasted pepper soup, Oak Grilled Tenderloin ($35) which is Meyers Prime, White Asparagus, Cilantro Gremolata, Crispy Shallots, and Malbec Jus. For dessert a coconut mango pano cotta. Dinner service was excellent and beats marks of other hotel restaurants for sure. My favorite was the tapas though and I would definitely spend a night at Castile with friends or family and take on the entire tapa menu with some cocktails and wine! The cocktail menu was crafted well and the dishes tasted authentic and filled with flavor. I will definitely return to Castile soon!

Rubbish. We were staying at the Don Cesar and we were shocked by the price of their New Year's Eve dinner. Since we had eight people in our party (half were teens), we wanted something a little more affordable, but still nice. Since the Castille had good reviews, and their regular prices were about half of the Don's regular prices we figured it would be a good option. We made our reservation over a month in advance. BIG mistake. This place is a "by-the-seat-of-their-pants, make-it-up-as-we go-along" type place. Décor is very nice, dare I even call it swanky. Our waiter was barely educated on the menu (I think they hired him that day and gave him a quick briefing) and service was sub-par. Here is the part that really made me mad; the regular menu was not available. It had been paired down to lame choices specifically designed to minimize food costs, while maximizing profits. Without notification, we were all charged a $100 per person flat "New Year's Eve" rate. OK - fine. I get that it is a tough night to get reservations, so I am willing to pay a premium, but then I expect excellent food. Boy was I disappointed. Course 1: 0.5 oz square of cheese baked in a panko crust. This was the best bite I had all night - too bad is was miniscule. Course 2: A small bowl of green lettuce with about 0.5 oz of cold shredded duck (or so they say ... could have been turkey). No dressing. Course 3: A shot glass with a frozen dollop of sorbet with champagne poured on it. Course 4: 5 oz of fish salsa - OK, but I could have made this at home. Course 5: Chocolate mousse. Disgusting. I could not choke down a single bite. It had that especially slimy yet rubbery texture that can only be achieved by freezing mousse for the weekend (uncovered) and then using a microwave to thaw it out because one forgot to get it out of the freezer time. This was appalling. Why didn't they just offer their regular menu???? The chef will say it is because they were so busy on New Year's Eve it was the only way to get the food all out in a reasonable time. This is a transparent lie for two reasons: #1 - they had empty tables. #2 - any restaurant that can't handle their own capacity (i.e. being on a wait every Saturday night, all night) has no business being in business. If you can't keep all of your tables turning with your regular menu you don't belong running a restaurant. Being treated this shabbily is offensive. We should have eaten at the Don. We would have paid (slightly) more - but the food would have been fabulous. Lesson learned.

4 stars because I can't give 3.5. We showed up early for our 9pm reservation with the intent of having a drink upstairs. When we arrived the hostess informed us that they were running behind and to come down at 9:15. We did this and still waited until at least 9:30 to be sat. We waited at our table for several minutes before we were served. We had the beef tartar, which was excellent but needed more toast. The scallops were fantastic, if not a slightly small portion. The grouper cheeks were good, but nothing to write home about. We had the flan cheesecake, which was tasty, but extremely rich. Generally the Food was great but the service was severely lacking. It's still probably the best restaurant on the beach and we will be back.

I adore this new restaurant. I love the atmosphere inside and out. My first impression was a fancy Vegas restaurant in St. Pete Beach. We sat outside. I always love sitting outside bc I always feel that often times Saturday nights in restaurants sound so loud. Sitting outside, I could listen to some fun upbeat and lounge music and hear less of that background noise. By sitting outside, when it's not too late, you also have a beautiful view of the intercostal water and the boats that can park and eat. From the start, our waitress Lindsey wowed us. She said she was new but studying up on the menu. When u first look at the menu, for some it may be quite fancy, and a bit complicated not knowing what some things were. Lindsey broke down a lot of the menu items so very well. She did amazing. I hate going to a place where the server just repeats what you can read straight from the menu. I ordered the diver scallops and my husband ordered the Harissa grilled culotte steak. My 3 very good sized scallops were served up top corn casserole and some good sized pieces of pancetta. I also got a side of lychee salsa bc I pointed out to Lindsey that it sounded really goody was something they served on the crab cake. My plate was amazing. The culotte steak at first was different. I figured out that my husband usually likes his steak more well, and it was red. It still had good flavor, but he wanted something w that. Lindsey got a sauce from the short rib and it worked out perfectly. The avocado frites(breaded avocado) pieces complemented it wonderfully. Last, we saved the best for last. Everyone kept ordering the jumbo choco taco for dessert. Couldn't figure out if we should jump on the bandwagon! So we did, and it was Heaven. Don't hesitate, just get it! This was an awesome experience and when Gordon Ramsey say the flavors are dancing on my taste buds, their sure were. At the end of all this, don't forget to take the side elevator in the hotel to the roof top bar and relax under the stars, then go downstairs and check out and dip your feet in the pool. You will be so happy u did, and you will not want your night to end!

This is our favorite restaurant on the beach. It is just what St Pete Beach needed - a classy, sophisticated setting with excellent food. My wife made the reservation for my birthday. She asked for an intimate table, and when we arrived we were immediately seated in a U-shaped booth that had a great view of the restaurant, allowing us to take in the nicely animated atmosphere somewhat privately. Bravo! Our table also looked over the lovely outdoor dining area, which we look forward to trying, perhaps when visiting for lunch. The service was terrific. The waiter was very knowledgeable regarding the food, and steered us appropriately so we did not over-order. Water, wine and table service were excellent. We never wanted for a refill. The food was outstanding. Each thing we had was delicious and inventive. We started with the calamari which was nicely overhauled with peppers and onions. It was very good and a nice twist on an old standby. Wife's dinner was scallops, and they were the largest I'd ever seen. They were nearly the size of petite filets. All were locally caught as this is scallop season. I had the Culotte steak, a Latin shoulder cut. It was done wonderfully and was very similar to a filet but with delicious infused chimichuri spices and remarkably tender. For dessert the waiter was kind enough to bring a cheesecake flan and the thing was magnificent. Covered with orange glaze and tasting mainly like cheesecake but with a bit more structure, it was simply a perfect end to a wonderful meal. Dinner will not be cheap but did not feel overpriced. This is truly an outstanding, upscale addition to the beach restaurant scene.

Words cannot describe how amazing this place was! Found this through great yelp reviews and this place did not disappoint!!!!! Went as a group of 6 for my birthday and I believe our waiter was Tony (highly recommend him, if any of us were in st Pete again would specifically request him!!) -our reservation was at 730 and we were promptly seated. Bar area was cool with standing room and posh seats. We were seated in a somewhat private corner so we could be a little loud if we wanted! Tony recommended some great appetizers for us (calamari, lobster Fries, and the pork belly) .:.. Allllll fantastic. The bread w their home made dipping sauce, to die for! Drinks were all fun and delicious! The main course... Let's see there were scallops, grouper cheeks, steaks, grouper, etc. allllll cooked to perfection and delicious. Overall, if I could give 6 stars. I would.

Yuck. Food WAY TOO SALTY AND SUGARY. Menu items looked most interesting and tasted awful. Service was slow and inexperienced. Room was LOUD! We dropped $150. It was money that could have provided several great dinners at other local eateries. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT! How the Tampa Bay Times put them in the top 10, I'll never know.

I am used to being disappointed with the vast majority of restaurant fare in Florida, especially since moving to NYC, but this place is an exception. Food was fresh and delicious and they obviously spend a lot of time on the presentation of every dish. It seems like whoever they have back in the kitchen actually cares about food and wants to serve the best. Definitely plan on checking this place out if you want to be impressed by the food and the beautiful atmosphere.

I was so excited to see a Tapas restaurant open on the beach. I went with a group of 6 back in Oct 2014, and everything was great ... the food, the service, the atmosphere. Since it was a few months ago, I don't remember everything we had but I'll do my best. All the items I can remember were absolutely delicious. - Yellow Fin Tuna Poke - Roasted Vegetable Endive Poppers - Heirloom Tomatoes and Burrata - Smoked Crispy Chicharrons (this was a table favorite, tasted like candied bacon) - Maine Lobster Ajillo (One of my favorites! I had it prepared as the menu specified, and my friend had them make it less spicy with no paprika or peppers. Both were wonderful.) I've seen a lot of complaints about the prices, but I didn't think it was overpriced at all. However, there are very few nice restaurants in St Pete Beach, so I can see how people in the area may consider it expensive simply because most local restaurants are VERY inexpensive. To put things in perspective, the most expensive entree (as of today) is the prime tenderloin for $35 (including sides.) The rest of the entrees ranged from $21-29, and the lobster ajillo was only $11. Our final bill, including wine and cocktails, came out to about $55 per person, and I thought it was worth every penny! There was one issue ... when we walked in, a couple was engaged in some pretty graphic behavior. It was clearly making many people in the bar area uncomfortable. That's not exactly the fault of the restaurant, and the staff was all fairly new and unsure of how to handle it. I'm betting there was a meeting after closing to determine how to handle that in future! Thanks, Castile and Hotel Zamora, for bringing another upscale restaurant to our beautiful beach! I can't wait to try your brunch when my family comes to visit in a few weeks.

FINALLY ! Fine dining with style and ambiance on the beaches! First valet only as street parking requires a permit. Take elevator to second floor and step into the cool vibe that is the Castile bar. Great indoor seating and gorgeous bar. Dining is available inside and outside with canal views. The food??? OMG! So excited that Castile is actually focused on return business! (As opposed to the crappy tourist beach food fair at other well known st Pete/passé grille "restaurants") Let me tell you why I already love this place 1. Paul our server was friendly, professional, food knowledgeable & we really had a fun time with him! (Us girls really had had a long day) 2. Food presented beautifully, fresh and menu very well executed Do try: Maine Lobster Ajillo Appetizer: Spanish Smoked Paprika, Garlic, Chablis, Sweet Onions, Serrano Peppers, Grilled Focaccia Black Mission Fig and Baby Arugula salad Seared Diver Scallops: cooked to perfection! Creamed Corn Casserole, Candied Pancetta, Smoked Tomato and Jalapeno Prosecco Cream Coconut Curry Braised Short Rib: tender ! Heirloom Tomato and Cheyote Ragout, Natural Jus Rooftop bar is going to be THE PLACE to hang out for sunset come January when renovations are complete! Looking forward to many more outstanding meals and plenty of sunsets!

The place looks lovely, but I can not comment on the food. We were greeted and sat down with menus at a unset table. We sat, and sat, and sat, waiting for service. After 10 minutes we got up and left, no one noticed us as we left either.

I'm so on the fence about this place. Which is not great considering having just spent $100 POST-GROUPON to eat here. Here's the thing... everything about it is either spectacular or a big miss. Let's talk about last night... My husband and I had different feelings about the lobster fries. I'm generally of the opinion that frying is too brutal for such a delicate and naturally delicious thing as a lobster, and I think I proved my point. Lobster fries = miniscule pieces of fried batter with mayo. My husband liked them, though, so we move on. The tenderloin tartare was universally disappointing. Isn't tartare supposed to be chopped up so you're not actually eating bite-sized whole pieces of raw meat? There was a texture issue (huge pieces of raw meat), the quail egg disappeared into superfluous hollandaise, and the slaw seemed promising but was not a slam dunk in any way. Let me just say, though, the entrees were out of this world!!! The grouper cheeks and snapper special would have warranted a 5-star review for this place, and I would have loved to have written it. Grouper cheeks, if you haven't had them, are like pieces of a fish that's mostly made of butter, and they get the royal treatment at Castile. The snapper would have made you slap your momma. Delish!!! But. First of all, we ordered a bottle of wine that didn't come until we were half finished with our entrees. At this point the service was starting to slip slowly off a cliff. The table next to us weren't even asked for their order of anything for 30 minutes, and they had long run dry of the drinks they brought from the bar. Second, we had purchased a groupon for 2 tapas and 2 entrees. Literally, that's what the groupon said it was for. Sadly, long after we finished the wine (really), we were still waiting with empty glasses (water included) for about 20 minutes while the server got the "price differentials" for 1 of our tapas and 1 of our entrees from the kitchen. HUH? Sorry, dude, we took the $14 "price differentials" out of your pre-groupon tip. Talk to the kitchen about it.

In my view, a restaurant has several goals. Castile delivers on some of them. Hence the 3 stars. We visited during restaurant week (not because it was restaurant week). This made a $30 prix fixe menu available in addition to the regular menu. Here's my detailed rating on several fronts. Ambition - 5 (phenomenal comprehensive modern Spanish-themed) Creativity - 5 (great takes in ingredients and preparation) Appearance - 5 (beautiful) Noise level - 1 (we were shouting) Service - 4 - our server was very competent Comfort - 1 or 5 - the seats were very comfortable. The wall booth-like seats were completely vertical and not comfortable at all except for the seat part. No support except on your upper back. Try that on for an hour or two. Avoid the bench seating. They did have a nice outdoor area but I didn't try out the seating. Serviceware - 2. For the price (and based on the pictures), there should have been tablecloths at dinner. Instead there were non-cloth woven mats that were not comfortable to rest your forearms on. Silverware was changed appropriately, and cups and plates were fine. Nothing seemed high end, though. Food value - 2. I had the Yellow Fin Tuna Poke, a Hawaiian dish where a delicious salsa-like dressing complements raw tuna. In this case, the tuna seemed to be missing in action. But this was basically a nice salsa dish, and a big portion. It was delicious, but it was not a $16 appetizer unless you don't mind paying for no tuna. The Coconut Curry Braised Short Rib ($29) was cooked correctly, but not really better than you would make at home yourself if you cook it for several hours on low. I looked up one wine - the Mondavi Moscato D'Oro. It's $14.50 at Total Wine, $68 for the 375ML bottle here, not available by the glass. I don't know why they need to make $54 to stock, cool and serve it. Food quality - 4 - My grouper was somewhat overcooked, but it was in the acceptable range and was presented nicely. The chocolate lava dessert was fine. The Italian lemon crème was really enjoyed by the person who ordered it. It was described as being like a crème brulee. Not true. It was more like lemon cream mixed with whipped cream. I mentioned creativity before was a 5. The recipes were clearly created by someone who knows the craft. The execution was just not quite up to the thought that went into the menu. There was a group there the night we dined, and our waitress told us that was not usually the case. They were very, very loud though they were mostly in the 30-40 set. I could hardly hear. We were all having to shout, and they were shouting, and so the whole place was a shout-fest. With nothing to keep sound from bouncing off every surface, it did. Parking is valet only. No price for parking, just tips. There is no parking on the street. If you have a large party, you'll be waiting on the 1-2 drivers working the valet stand. They said they were ranked #6 in the area. This is a possibility, but that would reflect more on the other restaurants in the Bay area or the reviewers. It is certainly nice, and has potentially to be an enjoyable experience with a lovely view of the intracoastal. Our visit didn't prove that out.

Food & drinks were great for brunch, but our server was awful. I had to ask for coffee four separate times and finally got a cup halfway through my meal. I'd definitely try it again, but if I were seated with her again, I'd ask to be resat :(

Stopped in on a Monday night with a co-worker. Had been staying at The Don and was looking for some good local eats. Christian at the front desk recommended "this new restaurant that has gotten some good reviews." He gave us directions to the Hotel Zamora, and we made the three-walk block north to the restaurant (which is on the second floor). We were enthusiastically greeted by the hostess, who ushered us to an indoor table near the deck. Our waiter John came out and introduced himself to us and took our drink orders. After reviewing the menu, we decided to start with the Yellowfin Tuna Poke. Friends, this poke was pretty slammin'. It tasted just like the poke I had in Hawaii. I would get that dish again in half-a-heartbeat. For our entress, I got the Yellowfin Tuna (again) and my co-worker got the Crab Cake. We split an order of the Yucca and Chorizo Hash. The tuna was really good, but the Hash was outta sight! I was really impressed with the quality of the food and the outstanding service. Paul was on top of things throughout the night. If I'm in town in the future, I will definitely stop by. It's not cheap, but it's a great option if you have the coinage.

If only the service matched the QUALITY of Chef Ted's food..... The food is AMAZING; we had the sea scallops, tuna poke, beef tartare, lobster ajillo, cullote steak, short ribs, pink grouper fresh catch. ALL outstanding!!! The service and attention to hospitality at this restaurant really needs to improve. The hostess last nite was a highlite as was our server Christian (when he was finally able to get to us), but the lack of a friendly smile or acknowledgement by the bar staff set a bad tone from the start. This was the 2nd time in as many visits that they didn't have the grouper cheeks, why not take them off the menu then and run them as a special? They also were "out of bread". Not that we needed the carbs, but what restaurant runs out of bread? A fella that the staff seemed to know walked thru the restaurant BAREFOOT. Our entrees were delivered "auction style", a pet peeve of mine in a place of this caliber. The chef and his menu are spectacular, I'm looking forward to one day dining at HIS restaurant where he will have a staff that matches his class and expertise. 5 stars for the food!!!!

The only place in the Tampa Bay area where you feel like you're one of the judges at the Food Network. Far better than anything else in all of Tampa and definitely St Pete. Ambience is nice bit it's all about the food it's incredible. A gem.

Interesting menu, very good food We had dinner twice in Castille, the restaurant of the Hotel Zamora, twice during a recent stay in St Pete Beach. I was most impressed by the selection of dishes from different cusines and the interesting mix of ingredients in some of them (e.g. the pappardelle with wild mushrooms and Meyer lemon). Bravo. The wine list is quite extensive (a decent number are available by the glass), and the staff are quite knowledgeable about what is on offer. There are a number of tables on the deck, which overlooks the Intracoastal Waterway,

When we first walked in I said I had a reservation and wanted a booth. She told me the two person booths were already reserved so we couldn't sit there. No one sat in those two booths the entire hour and a half we were there. Lame. We ordered drinks which were good. Average priced for the area. Appetizers, we ordered the lobster fries which are actually some part of crab, battered and fried. We also ordered the tuna poke. Not nearly as good as the one at cask and ale. It was ok. Pretty spicy and it came on top of what seemed to be pickled vegetables. Entrees, we ordered a steak and the scallops. I very much liked the corn underneath the scallops but it was topped with a red sauce that I felt didn't work with the dish and the scallops were over salted. My wife loves the steak and I enjoyed her avocado fries. For Dessert we shared the choco taco. It was the best thing we had to be honest. Our grand total was $159. Service was ok but we've definitely had better around St Pete. I would go again for cocktails and dessert.

Got a gift card for my birthday !! Decided to go for brunch based on website and when we got there the menu was under going "changes " and drinks that we expected were not available. Probably wouldn't go back.. The Castile omelet was good .. My husband ordered the quiche and it was a small portion. Service was good. Outdoor seating was nice. Not impressed with the restaurant as a whole for the price and convenience ... Oh u must park valet (free for restaurant patrons) but of course u must tip the valet parking attendant .

Came here with a groupon, will definitely come back. The service was great and so was the food. We were disappointed that they ran out of the $1 oysters for their Wednesday special by 6:30pm. We also could not get the 1/2 off bottle of wine with our groupon.

I have only positive things to say. The person that made the entire experience wonderful was the Hostess Carmen. She went out of her way to encourage us to visit the roof bar before dinner in order to catch the sunset. She assured us that our table would be waiting when we returned. Best suggestion ever!!! The view from the roof was spectacular and no complaints about the wine. When we came down Carmen seated us immediately. She made us feel so comfortable and accommodated every request. The food was excellent as was our Server. While we loved the entire experience Carmen was the Star!!! Can't wait to go back!!!! Gina

Too noisy, trying too hard to be the kind of place that does not fit in a beach community, overpriced, and service great one time and awful another.

Much anticipated visit to this new upscale saint pete beach restaurant was...... uneventful We had a good time and enjoyed our meal but it did not match up to all the hype. Chic is synonymous for uncomfortable dining furniture and poorly (to bright) lit restaurant Lump Crab cake was great Ratatouille was, well I never had it before, so was best I have had Overall things were good but just did not meet our expectations. They will have to step up there game to keep up with the Don or 1200 Chop House. John & Sunny

I just went to this restaurant. I went by myself since I was staying at the Hotel Zamora. I was seated fairly quickly and it fell apart. My waiter took quite a while to come to my table. He finally came and took my drink order and walked away. I was ready to provide my entire order because I had waited so long. When he came back he explained the appetizers and I ordered a calamari with a scallop main course. Within minutes the appetizer arrived. It was dripping with grease - literally. I had three pieces and gave it back. The waiter said he would remove it ($13) from my bill so I felt a little better. My main came out and the woman carrying it asked if I had ordered it and I responded "yes". She then took it to another table and asked them. She finally brought it back to me. My waiter came by and asked if I would like another beer which I agreed to. I did not get one until I had finished my meal and neatly arranged my dishes while waiting. The excuse was he had to go to a different floor to get it ... The rooftop bar and said he would comp me. He quickly walked away. When he came back, I asked for the bill. I looked and he took off the second drink as he promised but made me pay for the calamari. I paid and I even tipped him because I believed he was not going to make too much going forward. I requested to speak with the manager and waited for a while but gave up and went to my room. Later I went down and did communicate with the manager.

If I could rate food, experience and ambiance separately there would be different ratings, BUT, because of all the hype about this place and our experience of having drinks, dinner, and breakfast here, I'm sticking with a solid 2 stars. First: dinner. We ordered drinks and the Brazilian was delicious, it took a while to get to us and it was 5pm with no one in the restaurant. Our waitress was odd and awkward, not knowing how to leave a conversation or when to walk away. She was pleasant but seemed inexperienced. We ordered the calamari, and THAT would get 5 stars, it was delicious with an odd mixture of flavors that complimented each other perfectly. It was almost refreshing tasting. Once the waitress went over the specials, my husband knew he wanted the soup of the day which was a coconut curry soup. I ordered the yellowfin tuna. At this point, the waitress already told us a couple things on the menu that were unavailable, leaving us without an explanation. We overheard another waiter explaining it was because of the harsh winter in the north east effecting the availability. When our food came out, the waitress had a different soup for my husband, lobster chowder, saying she was mistaken with the soup of the day and hoped this would be an acceptable replacement. We elected to take it as my entree was now at the table. I liked the tuna a lot, though my husband thought it was bland. It came with a mixture of chopped fruits as a salsa. It was a smaller plate, but I enjoyed it. Neither of us liked the lobster chowder, it didn't taste like there was any lobster in it and it was bland. It was obviously extremely different from the coconut curry soup he thought he was getting. We stayed for almost 2 hours and saw our waitress only a few times. We got 2 drinks and had to ask for them each time. We would have had more had we been offered in an appropriate time frame. Overall, the food was good, just not great; the service was ok, but the environment is beautiful. We are staying at the hotel, so after going to a show we came back and sat at the bar. We sat down at 10:15 and they close at 11. When we sat down a waiter came by and collected all the menus off the bar. By 10:30 it was apparent they were trying to clear out and go home. We asked to see a dessert menu, ordered the Jumbo Choco Taco, then several minutes later were told they had just sold the last one. That made the third thing in one evening that was unavailable off the menu. The next morning we had breakfast here. We had a different waitress who was very sweet with a youthful awkwardness and a glowing personality. We really enjoyed talking with her throughout the morning! I ordered the Castile Parfait and my husband got the Castile Omelette. They each had a beautiful presentation. The Parfait had a lovely mixture of yogurt, cream fruit and pickled papaya; however, I discovered a layer of candied nuts on the first bite, an ingredient not listed on the menu. I'm extremely allergic to tree nuts and peanuts (especially walnuts). I was able to spoon the nuts out onto a napkin but was left with a slightly swollen and itchy mouth. This was highly disappointing. The Castile Omelette was pretty standard but with some fancier ingredients and we would definitely recommend to anyone that prefers a savory breakfast option. Overall Castile has a wonderful design with very classy ambiance and an intriguing menu. At just under a year old, the restaraunt feels like it's still figuring itself out and stumbled on delivering an experience to fit the price point. It has great potential and I would not write it off, our experience was just below average in the end.

We'll start with the food; I've found most of their menu to be above average to excellent, or, if you put it only in the perspective of restaurants on St Pete Beach, the entire menu is excellent as St Pete Beach is definitely lacking when it comes to higher end food options like Castile. The only other places on St Pete Beach that I hold in similarly high regard for food quality and originality are Snappers, 1200 Chophouse, Mad Fish (these three are owned by the same person) and Maritana Grille at the Don Cesar. The two menu items my wife and I find ourselves ordering again and again are the Seared Diver Scallops and the Yellow Fin Tuna; both are excellent every single visit. You may think to yourself, scallops for a meal? It works; their scallops are massive as you'll see in my pictures. They will definitely fill you up. The tuna is also a very hearty portion and has always been cooked perfectly. We've had the roast chicken, short rib, grouper, tenderloin and crab cakes as well; all were great. Have not ventured past those seven entrees so I can't comment on the others. I've also had the arugula salad; it's pretty tasty, but $14 for a three ingredient salad starts to hit one of my pain points, and that's actually a good segue into the explanation of why they get three stars from me instead of four or five. Two reasons; price and ambiance, considered together not independently. The prices of most things I feel are just too high; it's as simple as that. They charge more than Berns in Tampa for their tenderloin for example, and Castile is not Berns if we're talking steaks. I like the filet from 1200 Chophouse down the street more, and it's $10 less. Oysters? $15 for six. Cross the bridge to Tierra Verde and The Island Grille will sell you a dozen larger oysters for $13. The rest of the menu is similar, from their $12+ salads to the liquor drinks that are $10+ even for simple things like Bacardi & coke. Now I don't typically hold pricing against a place; if I don't feel the prices are reasonable, I simply won't visit very often. However, part of a venue's price should factor into the ambiance. Castile charges high prices but lacks any truly upscale features. It has an outdoor view, but it's just of a small intracoastal channel and the backs of some houses, facing east, so no sunset. The decor is nice enough, but doesn't really stand out as unique in any way. The iron chandeliers that adorn the dining room always seem to have bulbs burnt out. To top it all off though, on one visit, as my wife and I were having a nice dinner and looking out the window, a hotel guest comes up from outside, opens the door and walks through the dining room wearing just wet swim trunks and flip flops. Let's just say that when I'm having a romantic dinner that will likely cost me $140+ after food and drinks, I don't expect wet shirtless gentlemen to go walking past. So, there's some rough edges still, the place just opened in 2014, but the food is good and they seem to be putting an honest effort into improving. If the prices were a little lower, I'd consider them appropriate given the food quality and ambiance, but for now, we go to some of the other places I mentioned more frequently. Adding a 2015 edit to this review. Hotel Zamora, and thus Castille, have converted to a mandatory valet parking setup. I personally find that very annoying for two reasons. My wife and I became parents after my initial review of this place, and being forced to valet when you have a stroller, kid and a bunch of baby junk to unload is bothersome, prevents you from running back to the car easily for something you left, etc. Second, I simply don't like other people driving my car. Fortunately we live within walking distance of Castille, but this change has meant we no longer visit on hot days, so we're visiting far less than we used to given how long Florida's hot summers last.

It was no surprise that my dining experience was as good as it was. From just the decor and feel of the restaurant you can tell that something special is going to happen. Our table of eight decided to get an early dinner reservation and we were also fortunate to get one of my favorite St Pete waiters. The food was delightful, whether it was the oysters, scallops, lobster or the razor clams the seafood was the best all of us had sampled in the area. Even the roasted beet salad was something I had not seen done on this or the west coast. With eight of us ordering we hit a good portion of the menu and none of us were disappointed. The 8 hour marinade and 10 hour braise of the short rib did nothing but make this fall off the bone and delight the palate. We did take our own wine (a $20 corkage fee was quite acceptable) and the Russian River and Paso Robles selections worked very well with the menu. Stop by and enjoy a great meal, go for an early Sunday dinner seating, the sun is on the other side of the building and you should beat the rush.

Not sure what to make of this place. Service kind of stinky, food overpriced for quality and flavor that you get. Not sure they have anyone directing staff to ensure efficient and timely service, though everyone is friendly.

We went there tonight for our anniversary looking forward to a great evening. Our reservation what at 8 pm. We finally got seated at 845. 915 we left. We had not even been served bread or anything. I understand that the restaurant is new but you need to have your act together before you over promiseand under deliver.

Came in for dinner, service was great. And the food was absolutely perfect. We ordered the lobster ajillo which I highly recommend ... We wiped the plate clean. The lobster was cooked perfectly in a mouthwatering garlic tomato creme. For our main course we had the pollo and the albondiga grande, with the fingerling potatoes, Bonito mash, and lemongrass coconut sticky rice. Which were all amazing. We couldn't get enough of the sides the rice had a great sweet taste as did the mash, we practically fought over them. The meatball had a kick to it but the mushroom creme with peas and asparagus helped with the spice and gave it a nice creamy flavor. The chicken was juicy and covered in a delicious ratatouille. There were some amazing seafood dishes on the menu as well including grouper cheeks and seared scallops, judging by how amazing the lobster ajillo was I will be ordering seafood for my main course as well :-)! If you're looking for a delicious upscale dinner we highly recommend coming to La Castile, we will be going back soon!

The only hip and modern place in the St. Pete Beach area. They have a really great balcony and rooftop bar, the view is quite nice. The service was top notch. The food was delicious as were the drinks, we will be back.

Great new restaurant by the beach. This place has outstanding flavorful food. We tried both soups available. One was a gazpacho, which had great flavors. The other was a chicken and vegetable, which could have been boring, but with all of the veggies, it was great! We tried the Maine lobster app, which had this amazing red sauce and brought a lot of flavor, but didn't overpower the lobster. They had a Spanish herb take on their bread and Olive oil, which was delicious. For entrees, we had the scallops and short ribs. Both were cooked perfectly and very tasty. We tried 2 sides. One was the yuca and chorizo, which was amazing. The other was, I don't remember, which means it wasn't memorable at all. For dessert, we got the chaco taco and that was perfect! We had a lot of leftovers to bring home and thoroughly enjoyed this new place! Highly recommend if you enjoy spanish infused food.

Went here for a work team dinner. It was a party of 10, we all started with some cocktails. No complaints about any of the drinks and they all looked amazing. One person actually asked for a very specific drink and it was made just as well. Service was AMAZING, the waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable. We ordered a few appetizers, my favorite one was the "chicarrons" which was basically perfectly cooked candied bacon . I ordered the curry short rib, and i must say it was one of the best ones ive ever had! Extremely tender, juicy, with great flavors. I will definitely go back.

This is a very good restaurant that is a cut above the tired mediocrity of its local competitors and is priced accordingly. Calamari, swordfish, and tenderloin were all excellent. Musician inside was too loud but it was nice outside.

We've been looking forward to trying this new place out since they broke ground (a long time coming!) It was really good! I would definitely return and bring friends. A tad pricey, but nothing more than we pay at equally as good spots downtown (i.e. Station House). My husband & I came for a belated Valentine's Day dinner on Monday 2/16, surprisingly (for a Mon. night) we found the restaurant packed, but then again, "season" just started. Our server said he had never seen it that busy since they opened. We hadn't made a reservation (again, assuming a Monday wouldn't be crowded) and the hostess kindly squeezed us in. Ambiance is fine - nothing to write home (or on Yelp!) about, but fine. The food was REALLY good, I mean really. We decided to go the Tapas route and share a few as well as one dinner. We started with 6 raw Blue Point/CT oysters, which were delicious with the simple horseradish and frozen cocktail sauce (I'm not sure it was meant to be frozen, but we loved it); the Yellow fin Tuna Poke (in my top 3 of the night's dishes!); the lobster special app (lobster, tomato coulis and toast points covered in Foie Gras), I don't eat Foie Gras so my husband was the guinea pig for those & he said they were devine with the lobster/tomatoes etc....I enjoyed the lobster and tomatoes on their own. Being a native New Englander I asked if it was Maine lobster and was assured it was. The portion in the special app was very good including several large pieces of good claw meat. Even the rolls with their unique oil was delicious; oil was lemony with paprika and some seasoning that was really interesting and tasty. The noise level is louder than one would think, but it was reasonable. We started to get quite full and a little worried after all of that, as we had a dinner coming still, the 3 apps and a roll each were very filling! We shared the Grouper Cheeks dinner and it was delicious. I had expected something like hamachi kama (an actual cheek) but rather, it was several pieces of friend Grouper with a great tomato caponata and vinegrette. Those 4 plates were more than enough for two hungry people! With a nice bottle of Italian wine, the bill with tip was just under $200. Looking forward to taking our boat back and docking at the rear of the hotel to have dinner again.

Heard great things about this restaurant but it did not live up to expectations. Let's start with what's great: ambiance and service. Truly a stylish place with impeccable decor and super friendly and attentive service. Top notch. But the food, while well presented, fails to deliver. If you like your food swimming or smothered it paprika, this place is for you. Yet they brag about the freshness of the seafood - sad you can't taste that because the sauces overwhelm the flavor of the food. I had the lobster to start (completely overwhelmed by paprika, clearly a favorite ingredient) and the day boat scallops as the main (also overwhelmed by an overly generous pouring of sauce). My husband had the candy cane beets to start - good but not great. He did enjoy the catch of the day (flounder). Granted, it was the only dish not doused in paprika. You can give this place a miss.

What a beautiful new place. The food is unusual and delightful. Chef Ted pairs Florida seafood with Spanish styles & ingredients flawlessly. The bartenders are lovely with a fresh new take on cocktails- try the Hot Mama!! Saint Pete Beach certainly needs this upscale take on Florida dining.

Went for Mother's Day brunch and was disappointed with the service and overall food quality. Despite being only one of a handful of tables (5-7 at the time) in the restaurant (we arrived just before 10:00 for a 10am reservation), service was slow, the waitress repeatedly used "Hun" and "sweetie" as she interacted with my parents, and the person refilling our water glasses spilled water on me (and the tile floor) --- twice! He made the comment that the water pitcher was "too full" yet did not wipe up the spilled water in front of our table. Upon ordering we overheard the table near us sending their food back to the kitchen because their omelets were cold. When our food finally arrived, two of three entrees were cold (quiche & the traditional). The waitress happily sent the food back and requested new entrees. 15-20 minutes later two new entrees arrived - quiche was still cold and the traditional was warm at best. No manager addressed the issue which was fine - the waitress provided us with a gift card for our next visit & removed one entree from our bill. While I may return to give them another chance, I will not bring guests or business partners until the kitchen and waitstaff can deliver a more professional experience.

Best meal I've had on St. Pete Beach by far! We had the baked oysters, grouper cheeks and the roasted veg poppers and they were all delicious! Great service and nice view. I would definitely be back. I've never had a NYC quality meal in the area until now.

It is so nice to have a fine dining options on the beach. It is not a stuffy place. We sat outside overlooking the inner coastal. We both had the scallops and they were perfect. The fusion influences are not over done and add a different flare and elevation to the food. A must try if you are looking for something a little upscale on the beach.

Went for lunch today. The Hotel and restaurant are beautiful but they have some kinks to work out, as any new business does. Menu is ambitious. If they are going to compete with the price points they are asking for, they will have to step up the details. Our table was rocking (uneven). My husbands martini was brought out before mine. All our food was slightly over-seasoned but good. The outside pool area had used glasses hanging around from perhaps the night before. Would recommend some aromatherapy as there was a construction smell that could be a turn off. Noticed they have all male staff apart from the Hostess. Could have just been the time we were there. All this being said, we are wishing this place well. We can always use a great additional choice for food and high end hotel and we do plan to visit again in a few months when they are more experienced. Looking forward to the roof top opening too!

It was our first visit and we saw a true mix of people, every age and attire but all melded well with the loud music, flowing drinks and delicious food. We order the chicharrones (really fried bacon) but great serving size and delicious. I ordered the grouper cheeks, tasty too and we were too full after the bread and dipping oil for dessert but saw many giant choco tacos being delivered. The wine list was fair and the cocktails tasty. We look forward to our next trip, will try to come by boat!

Enjoyed a wonderful evening sitting outside by the inter-coastal in very comfortable chairs. Service was fantastic - just the right amount of attention without driving you crazy - and kept all of our beverages just the way we like them! Love the décor - anxious to try dinner the next time. Lovely way to end a very relaxing and enjoyable evening!

Visited Castile bar this evening. Great looking place with lots of people. I ordered a glass of Santa Margherita wine. What I got was not Santa Margherita. I had waitress to personally pour a sample and compared it to what I got. My husband sampled and also confirmed the two were different. They gladly gave me a new glass of the correct wine. Now it could have been a innocent error but be sure you get what you ordered. Santa Margherita is an expensive glass of wine! Let's see what happens the next time....

Good meal. Classy place. The lobster app was amazing. Baked oysters were equally stunning. Tuna crudo good too. If you like Martinis get the three olive martini. Stuffed olives with caviar, crabmeat and goodness. Want to head back for brunch as the Omeletes look amazing too. Bloody Mary bar soon to come. Will be nice when the rooftop bar opens up and can watch the sun go down.

Hit this joint last Saturday night with another couple. My comments in no particular order: For the beach, this place has very nice non-cheesy look and vibe. Pre-meal drinks at bar were very good. Surprisingly, we were seated on time despite the restaurant appearing very busy. Attentive server, but apps, drinks, and entrées took longer to arrive than we had hoped for. Braised short ribs were very yummy, but a bit too sweet. Yucca Hash was a big letdown. Balance of entrées and apps were great. People watching was mildly entertaining: some tourists, some locals, and a wide variety of folks just trying to get noticed. Will return next time I'm on that side of town.

We have enjoyed dinner here a few times already. The service has been attentive, friendly, and well informed. The ambiance and music is enjoyable and conducive to a relaxing dinner. The overall place is clean and well done. They have romantic half booths that are great for a couple. These seem to be reqested in advance and we have longed to sit there each time so I recommend making a reservation for those. Some of our favriote items are the lobster tapas, burrata salad, pork belly, and the grouper cheeks are a must! We had one issue there during a 4th of July party, that we later found out was run by a third party promotion company. The head chef heard that we were not happy and he literally took matters into his own hands to ensure we had an enjoyable evening. It is rare to see that kind of customer service and was impressive. This dedication is obviously why the food is above par.

I had great expectations given that the restaurant was listed as one of the top ten in Tampa Bay. First two courses were delicious. My main course was scallops on some sort of toast. The toast was burned! All I could taste was charred toast. I tried to wash the burned flavor out of my mouth with shots of very expensive tequila, but that could not even get the horrible taste out of my mouth. Four of us dined, we had drinks and a nice $500 meal, but that last, horrible course ruined my meal!

Undoubtedly one of my favorite spots in St. Pete Beach. Foodand service are sometimes hit or miss but our evening there last night was sublime. Took a friend for his 84th birthday and sat at the bar. Jade and Sue were our bartenders and couldn't have been more attentive. The large bowl of the soup of the day and warm rolls were the best I have ever tasted. Kudos to the team for making our night special!

Bar review only..... We were excited to see this finally open! It's great to have some other options to go out when we stay at the Beach House Suites. My wife and I sat at the bar on a Saturday night. The rest of the restaurant looks very nice (reminds me of the Havana Bar&Grill in the The Pearl Hotel in Rosemary Beach) I draw a lot of conclusions of a place based on the bar service. Well, there were at least 4 people tending to the bar. We were quickly greeted, given a menu, and took our order. Wine for the wife, a cocktail for me (very good). The bartender was very nice, answered all of our questions about the menu (what were popular items so far, etc...) We ordered the Lobster fries. I'd give them 3 stars. Concept is cool (using the usually looked over legs) but just ok. There really wasn't lobster flavor. They were really just a vehicle for getting the dipping sauce into your mouth. But that won't stop me going back and trying more!

Too pricy for what they offer... It's a good and fair try in St. Pete Beach but don't except 5 star cuisine. Stick to the classics like filet mignon, etc...

Service was excellent, as was every item on the menu. We had a large party, and sampled most of the appetizers and entrees. Oysters were amazing, as were the grouper cheeks. The chef also sent us one of each dessert on the house, which was a really nice way to end the meal.
